What a fantastic memorial to him it was. I especially enjoyed Johnny Hallyday and Tete, and the young lad who covered Resiste which was special. I'm sure that that particular version could be released as a chart hit. Celine Dion was magic in her interpretation of Ziggy, and Francoise Hardy was , well....... Francoise Hardy ;-) Message Personnel was brilliant. Highlight of the show for me was Vanessa Paradis and -M- performing La Declaration. There was almost a Mother to Daughter look in Frances eyes as Vanessa sang - to her - in the later part of the song. I am so lucky to have managed to get hold of a copy ofthe show. I know many English residing fans of France will be extremely jealous. I know many of you will say - but you prefer Les Annees 60's par France Gall !! - well I do, but that show was not really France Gall, it was Michel.
I was slightly disappointed that France did not actually perform herself that night. I know she has stated that she will never again sing in public, but that show would have been a superior moment to make her last ever public performance. One can only hope that having seen the affection shown by many of her peers and contemporaries that night she might just be persuaded to perform again........Pour La Musique of course......... until later
